"So glad to hear from you! The new addition of Whitt (aka Hadden) to the family has been great! He and Basil are the best of friends . They are so funny together and so much fun to watch. It is interesting, of course Whitt is a little different than Basil. Not quite as compliant but still eager to please . In some ways a little better behaved as my daughter in law has a firmer hand with him than we did with Basil . He has a little more energy than Basil did or maybe I’m just not remembering right. He has the same "breed characteristics" very smart, incredibly sweet, very loving. I love this breed. We will never do anything else! In fact my daughter has a dog that is aging . She says nothing for her but Sheepadoodle next time. And, of course she will be looking to good ole dad to get it for her. So in the next year or so I would bet you will be hearing from me again. I would be happy and honored to talk to anyone you send my way. I am in S Sudan right now and go to the Middle East from here. My access to internet is intermittent but the best way to reach me is by email. Possibly I can receive a text but not likely. Any way hope to hear from them Basil sends his love..."

"Basil likes an occasional dip in the pond.."

"Since he doesn't shed he even has permission to be on The furniture. However, usually he prefers to just lay on the floor
Basil did the nip and bite thing especially between 6 and 8 months (sheepdog) However because he was so smart (poodle) he was not hard to train to stop.
All in all he is much more sheepdog than poodle. His temperament. His loyalty. He is definitely a home body.
This being said right now he looks more like a poodle. This is because during the summer after playing in the pond he is much easier to clean up with shorter hair!
He was very easy to house train . Extremely intelligent..
He runs with me when I'm driving the 4 wheeler .. we take a couple mile walk most days .. He does better with a little exercise."

"Basil is a very loving dog . He is especially attached to my wife. Funny because she is not a dog person. She has become very much a Basil person.
So much for having a farm dog to work the fence lines with . If my wife is in the house he won't go more than 50 yards away from the house"

"Hi, Just to let you know . We waited to get Basil (also known as Reece) neutered until he was 10 mos. old . That was our vets recommendation. It is done now. Basil is the greatest dog ever. He quickly won his way into my wife's heart. He loves running on the farm and swimming in the pond . He has the sweetest and kindest disposition of any dog I have ever been around . This breed is amazing. We will never get another breed or ever use a different breeder.
He has had an adventurous first year of life. He learned the hard way not to play with donkeys! He was kicked and had to have surgery and be in a cast for 6 weeks. He is now fully recovered and playing happily but at a distance from the livestock.
He is extremely smart. While staying at my sons house while we vacationed. He woke my son in the middle of the night not content until my son would come in the living room . When my son finally went he discovered that Basil was trying to show him the house was on fire! My son called 911 and the fire was put out and no one was hurt. Apart from Basil it could have been a much worse situation.
We could not love Basil more!"
